Let's use Skype!

Topics: General Discussion

Email tends to be slow, when it comes to communication, therefore, I would suggest that we use Skype instead!

Please add my Skype: artem_los

Im a google hangout kinda guy. Is that ok? maybe we could schedule a time in the next few days (tuesday 5 pm central?) that we have free to discuss some things? My implementation of Fraction in my library is a bit rougher (not tested and has a few bugs yet), but much larger. so together we could smooth out. i have constructors, conversions, and overloaded operators for a lot of datatypes to and from fraction (even a strict rounding rule to convert to 1/3 and 2/3, although an algorithm to detect a repeating pattern would be more accurate than my current implementation). anywho, I havent put off, but I have had troubles as this is my first open source and im brand new to TFS. regardless of my login issues,I have been working diligenly on refactoring and generally woking on the fraction tests. i am making real headway and havent broken anything yet lol! so, anyway, let me know what your availability is and hopefully by then we can talk and I can share some of my ideas and changes. plus maybe you can crash course the exact steps to submit. thanks for keeping in touch!

It would be really nice if we could have a conversation this week (Google hangout should work!). I will post my schedule later this day, and I encourage everyone to post your time below as soon as possible! The theme of this discussion will be types, including fraction types, the math language, et cetera.

@dottostring, I think this article might help you with TFS! :)

I don't wish to sound to newbish, but this is the first project I have ever been able to work on with others at this site.
Who is the project leader, and what parts of the code could I help with?

I am a decent programmer, I just haven't had the chance to gain any experience in team development.

Hi McClainJ,

There are many parts that you could help with; it mainly depends on your area of interest! Below, a list of modules of the library.
• Finance
• Statistics
• Calculus
• Geometry
• Algebra
• Arithmetic
• Conversion
• Coordinate Geometry

(a picture of this can be found here:

There is currently a Portal, where you can find a lot of important information: A developer guide might be useful too: In the left corner on the Portal page you can find the current tasks.

The important thing that I would recommend everyone to do is to sign up for the Facebook page and/or the mailing list (, as it is very important that everyone in the team receives information as quickly as possible (specially during conferences).

It is good if everyone adds my Skype name: artem_los.

I am currently coordinating Mathos Project and the Mathos Core Library, however, this project is open to any ideas, so if you would like to add/change a module, request a new conference, or change the way the project works, please feel free to submit a thread on this forum or Facebook!

I hope you will gain a lot of experience from this project, and that you will enjoy contributing! :)
